To embrace the beauty of life, we must first face the reality of death. Last week, we acknowledged the pathway of death. From the moment we take our first breath, death looms on the horizon.
There’s nothing like riding an ATV through a field of tall grass. Before long, paths appear as the grass is trampled by the tires. A well-worn path eventually becomes an easy path to ride.
Life is directional. We’re all going somewhere. Even when we feel stagnant, something is changing. What paths are being formed by the direction of your life? Spurgeon once told a group of pastors, “When a man is upstairs in bed, and cannot do any hurt, you pray for him. When he is downstairs, and can do no end of mischief, you do not pray for him.”
Several people are unsure of their salvation. If you ask them about it, they say, “I hope I’m saved. Who am I to say whether I’m going to Heaven or not?”
But that’s not biblical. You can be sure of your salvation (or lack thereof). Let’s look at the rest of Paul’s long sentence in Ephesians 1. Last week, if you remember, I said Ephesians 1:3-14 is one sentence in Greek. And I focused on verses 3 through 6. Now, I want to look at verses 7 through 10.
